Calling All Patriotic Communities!
The America 250 Missouri Commission invites you to participate in a series of events as we count down to July 4, 2026.
America’s Potluck
America’s Potluck is an opportunity for neighbors to join with one another to share a fun, communal meal, creating a sense of connection and belonging and fostering interactions among people from all walks of life. Join the movement to build connections within your community by spreading the word and planning to host a potluck on July 5, 2026. Better yet, walk across the street (or the hall) to find a neighbor to co-host the potluck with you!
Sharing the Spirit of America
We are happy to share a project related to America250 and the Declaration of Independence – “Sharing the Spirit of America”. The premise of ‘Sharing the Spirit of America’ is pretty simple, and its implementation is equally simple.
Just as the Declaration of Independence was read for the first time to the people of Philadelphia on July 8, 1776, Americans across the country will read the Declaration on July 8, 2026. Please plan one in your local community and share the details on the form below. The listing will allow those who want to attend find a reading near them.
America 250 Missouri Mini-Grants
ServMO, formerly known as the Missouri Community Service Commission, is thrilled to partner with the America 250 Missouri Commission to offer mini-grant opportunities to Missouri organizations in Fall 2026. These funding opportunities will be posted at https://serv.mo.gov/grant-opportunities/ in late Spring. ServMO will encourage Missourians to get engaged in their communities in September 2026 during either 9/11 Day of Service or Missouri Good Neighbor Week . To receive ServMO’s mini-grant notices directly, please email ServMO@ded.mo.gov .
Light To unite
Endorsed by America 250 and the National League of Cities, Light to Unite is a national call for cities, towns, and buildings across America to light landmarks red, white, and blue on the evening of July 4th, 2026.
It will be a powerful, visible symbol of national unity.
Hundreds of communities have already committed and the National Flag Foundation is pushing hard to grow the list.
Here’s what they are asking for
· Commit to lighting local buildings/landmarks on July 4th
· Email your commitment to NFF Administrator Alicia Munzphelps
· Share any existing photos of your landmarks lit in red-white-blue
· Forward this to anyone who should be part of this moment
