About The Commission

Purpose

The principal purpose of the America 250 Missouri Commission shall be to plan, promote, and implement where appropriate public celebrations and commemorations of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026, and the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.

Initiatives

The America 250 Missouri Commission shall fulfill the principal purpose by providing and promoting activities and events:

  • Educate– Focused on youth and targeting school age children, with priority placed on activities related to the “Charters of Freedom” (Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights)
  • Engage– Focused on community involvement, with priority placed on development of patriotic activities and events thus encouraging participation in communities across Missouri
  • Celebrate– Focused on public commemorations, with priority placed on launching commemoration activities as well as the celebration July 4, the Battle of Fort San Carlos, and events of the American Revolution
